Welcome to the Chords Quiz Page!
On this page you can test your ability to analyse chords using the extended Roman numeral system.
- Major chords are shown with capital letters e.g. V (major dominant chord)
- Minor chords are lower case e.g. iv (minor subdominant chord)
- Augmented chords are in capital with a + sign, e.g. III+ (augmented mediant chord)
- Diminished chords are lower case with a ° symbol, e.g. ii° (diminished supertonic chord)
- Inversions are shown using the letters a (root position), b (1st inversion), c (2nd inversion) and d (3rd inversion)
This is the system used by all UK music theory exam boards.
